QUICK LINK: Jump straight to the list of signees
INSTANT CONTRIBUTORS:
This shelf in the cupboard was looking a little bare as signing day grew nearer, but the Owls' late pick up of Cy Falls RB Shane Turner all the sudden made the pantry look a bit more full. Turner is an electric talent at running back -- he runs a 4.4 and can seriously almost disappear from right in front of a defender's eyes with his lightning-quick side step. He was solid as a junior, but broke out for more than 2,000 total yards and 31 touchdowns in the 2007 campaign. In most normal situations, Turner would be better suited to sit for a while then carry the load as either a redshirt freshman or sophomore, but with the current state of affairs at running back as woeful as it is for the Owls (see: Ugokwe, C.J.; also: Knox, Marcus), he could be in the game sooner rather than later. Houston area fans might remember Turner for showing up Sam McGuffie when their teams played on statewide TV. The final count in Cy Falls' 49-37 win: Turner 196 yards, 3 TDs (and 100-yard KO return), McGuffie 170 yards, 1 TD.
