District 14-2A was packed in pretty tight, with at least four teams in serious contention for the three playoff spots each 2A grouping is granted. With both Kerens and Edgewood looking like postseason locks, that left just one spot for Rice and Corsicana Mildred. Considering Rice was picked in the preseason to finish last in its district, things weren't looking good.
