Editor's Note: "Inside The 25" counts down the preseason top 25 for all five 11-man classifications, taking a closer look at each team in the rankings, starting with No. 25 and working up to No. 1.
CLASS 5A's #25: Garland Naaman Forest
2007 Preseason Ranking/Final Ranking: NR/NR
2007 Final Record/Playoff Finish: 9-3/Division II area finalists
Why They're Ranked: Nine wins last year and a first-team Super Team running back for starters. But coach David Patterson thinks the key to sustaining last year's turnaround, when NF went from 3-7 to 9-3, is a defense that returns six starters. Terrence Bullitt, the younger brother of former Aggie Melvin Bullitt, is the known name on defense, but two '07 startling linemen also return in Jonathon Young and Michael Daniels. Both stand at least 6-2 and weigh at least 230. Still, the player to watch remains RB Jonathan Miller (1,800-plus yards last year), an early pledge to OU and Super Teamer. Playing a decent non-district schedule (games against Mesquite, Lewisville and Plano West) should have the Rangers in position to take the 10-5A title away from South Garland.
