The Donna ISD School board voted unanimously to fire three coaches Thursday, including head football coach and athletic director David Evans, in response to sexual assault charges against three varsity football players at the school.
Derick Castillo, Donna's starting quarterback, and Reynaldo Magallanes were charged with misdemeanor assault and two counts of attempted assault two weeks ago. Police affidavits allege the two players, both 18, and another player beat a freshman teammate last fall and attempted to insert their latex-covered fingers into the player's anus.
