No. 2 Sundown (1-0) vs. No. 9 Stratford (1-0) at Kimbrough (Canyon)Lucky us -- this game almost didn't exist.
Sundown wasn't slated to play Stratford at Kimbrough in Canyon until late July -- this slot in the schedule was supposed to be filled by No. 20 De Leon, and while that surely would've been a good game as well, Stratford is not only one of Sundown's fellow Top Ten-ranked team, but also a West Texas contender trying to establish bragging rights early in the season. Had De Leon's coaching staff not gone through some changes in the offseason, we might not have this marquee matchup.
