THE 5A GAMESGAMES TO WATCH
No. 1 Katy vs. No. 5 Galena Park North Shore: The Grandaddy of all Week 0 games, these two Houston superpowers are once again battling for city-wide bragging rights. Last season, North Shore emerged as 10-6 winners, but Katy got the last laugh when it won the DII state title and North Shore bowed out in the second round. Just like last season, the Tigers are going to have to break in some new skill position players -- including a QB -- but the offensive line, led by OT Shep Klinke, is solid. North Shore will also be debuting a new signal caller, but RB Tracy Woods, who could be one of the region's best, is back to carry the load. Expect this war to be won in the trenches, where both teams are going to pound the ball to establish the pace. If North Shore can force Katy to throw the ball, it works to the Mustangs' advantage. I think they'll do just that and post a second straight victory over their cross-region rivals.
