3A DI state semifinals
Abilene Wylie’s big-game experience paid off as the Bulldogs rallied for a touchdown with eight seconds remaining to advance to the state championship game. Wylie had lost in this playoff round the two previous seasons, but the Bulldogs were determined not to let it happen again. After Lovejoy took a 27-24 lead with 2:44 left, Wylie methodically drove down the field on a 64-yard, 11-play drive for the winning points. Quarterback Matt Preston hit Joe Nasser for the game-winning touchdown and a ticket to the state championship game. There were six lead changes in the game. Lovejoy quarterback Michael Means ran for 107 yards and three touchdowns.
