2A AP All-state Team: A number of quality candidates for Offensive POY

Down in Class 1A, Cayuga's Traylon Shead won the Offensive Player of the Year award. But his competitor for much of the year -- at least in career touchdowns -- didn't earn the same. Bushland QB Sawyer Cornelius beat out Caddo Mills RB Nathan Jeffery and Pilot Point RB Jarman Johnson for the Offensive Player of the Year award, the second player in a row in the 2A ranks that has put Graham Harrell's single-season touchdown pass record in jeopardy (Muleshoe's Wes Wood did it last season). Cornelius finished the regular season with 44 touchdown passes, just 23 shy of Harrell's mark. But a broken wrist in the postseason derailed his quest, and now we'll have to wait another year for the next challenger. Leonard's Tevin Daniel, who had eye-popping numbers along the defensive line, took home Defensive Player of the Year honors.
