The 2008 U.S. Army All-American Bowl is coming up this weekend at the Alamodome and, as usual, the state of Texas is well-represented. There's a bunch of big names heading down to San Antonio for the televised matchup, so here's a quick look at the local names playing for the West's roster. Quick note: check out the offensive lineman ... that's one of the best groups of five you'll see in a long time. The game is noon Saturday and will also be aired on NBC - make sure to check it out ... you don't want to miss these guys' last time in a high school uniform, do you?
QB Andrew Luck 6'3, 215; Stratford (Stanford)
One of the best passers in the state, Luck has everything you could want in a collegiate quarterback: size (6-3), accuracy, arm strength, mental strength and pedigree (does the name Oliver Luck ring any bells? Yeah, that's his dad). Luck's Stratford squad got knocked out of the 2007 playoff race in just the second round, but don't let that color your opinion of the young signal caller - he passed for 2,588 yards and 20 TDs and added 650 yards and 13 scores on the ground.
