Whether or not Cy Ridge QB Russell Shepard will actually play quarterback in college is still up in the air. But the talented senior certainly made his case during the 2008 season.
The LSU-bound Shepard put his dazzling dual-threat capabilities on display during his team's impressive postseason run, but his regular season numbers alone were good enough to earn him first-team AP 5A All-State status: 1,458 passing yards and 16 TDs in nine games; and 1,111 rushing yards and 17 TDs on the ground. Small wonder his team had one of the top offenses in Texas.
