No matter which way you define the term "MVP", Cayuga RB Traylon Shead seems to embody it. If you want big numbers, Shead ran for more than 2,300 yards and 39 touchdowns this season. If you want team success, his squad plays Stratford this weekend for a chance at the 1A DII state championship. If you want dominance ... well, any defensive player who has squared him up can attest to that.
Shead is 2008's AP 1A Offensive Player of the Year, and the AP is not alone in recognizing him. Shead has already started the recruiting process, and he's had several BCS programs knocking on his door all season long. Still just a junior, Shead has one more season to continue his assault on the state's record books. Another season like this one, and he could climb into Texas' top five for career rushing.
