Our "Games to Watch" segment is back and better than ever. Published every Friday here on TexasFootball.com, we take as broad a look as possible at the weekend's games. Some of your favorites are back -- like the Name Game, the best matchup between two school mascots -- with some new additions, like Under the Radar -- a great game you may not be thinking about.
THE 1A GAMESGAMES TO WATCH
No. 24 Chilton vs. No. 18 Mart: The two Central Texas rivals meet at Waco ISD Stadium in a game that should do down to the wire. Mart escaped last year with a 24-14 victory and went on to a 12-3 season that culminated with a state championship appearance. Coach Rusty Nail’s Panthers lost a lot of key players from that team but still have 10 returning starters and should be ready to show that they’re back for more in 2009. Chilton is on the upswing with 16 returning starters from a 7-5 team. The Pirates know that a win over Mart would be a big way to show that bigger and better things are ahead in 2009. Expect Chilton QB Demeris Randolph to have a big game.
TexasFootball.com pick: Chilton by 3.
